I'm Mori, based in central London since 2022. Family sessions run the same way my couple sessions do. I follow what's actually happening rather than lining everyone up and asking them to smile at once. It's slower to set up and it looks better in the end.
Who books a family session
Parents wanting the first proper photos with a new baby. Family visiting London from abroad who want something to remember the trip by. Grandparents in from out of town, in the country for a short window and everyone wants to be photographed together while that's possible. Some people just want an annual update, a Christmas card photo, or one for the year.
What a session with kids actually looks like
Kids don't hold a pose, so I don't ask them to. We'll do a few minutes of everyone looking at the camera for the photo you'll actually print, and then I mostly leave the kids alone and photograph what they're doing. Some of the best family photos I've taken are of a toddler mid-tantrum thirty seconds before everyone's laughing about it.
Where should we shoot?
A park works well if the kids need room to move. Regent park, Hyde park. Your own home is also an option if you'd rather have photos somewhere familiar.
Pricing
Family sessions also include editing and a private online gallery. Full pricing and package are on the Investment page.
Frequently Asked Questions
My kids won't sit still for photos. Is that a problem?
No,  that's most sessions. I'd rather photograph what they're actually doing than fight them into a pose.
How long does a family session take?
I would recommend booking at least 1~2 hours.
Can grandparents or extended family join?
Yes, tell me roughly how many people in advance so I can plan the timing.
Do you photograph newborns or babies?
Yes, moreover, I also do maternity photoshoo!
What if it rains?
Light rain is fine and we can often still shoot. For anything heavier I'll suggest moving indoors or rescheduling.
