London is where A and H met. She's French, he's English, and they still get caught out by small things sometimes, a word that doesn't translate or a family tradition nobody thought to explain. None of it seems to slow them down.
A few weeks before the wedding A asked if she could borrow a tripod. Her grandmother in France hadn't been well and probably couldn't travel, so A wanted to set up a video call and let her watch the ceremony from home. She didn't end up needing it. Her grandmother got on the plane.
I thought about that message a lot on the day, watching the two of them together.
The second surprise came after the ceremony. A friend's dad handed over the keys to his vintage Rolls-Royce, so we spent a while driving around Chelsea before someone opened a bottle of champagne on the pavement. Nobody planned that part, which is usually how the best photos happen.
Congratulations again, A and H, and thank you for having me there.
