I'd photographed M about a year earlier, him and a group of his closest friends. Loose session, more of an afternoon out than a shoot.
Then a message: "I'm getting married. Are you free to photograph it?"
C and M met on a dating app and were engaged inside two years. Being asked back after what had been a fairly casual job the first time round meant a lot.
Islington Town Hall, North London, in the middle of summer. It was a relaxed and intimate ceremony, with the couple surrounded by their closest people. After saying “I do”, we took a little time around the town hall and Upper Street, capturing the in-between moments, family photos and a few quiet portraits of the two of them.
Half the room were faces I already knew from that first shoot, so the day felt easy from the start.That’s one of my favourite parts of this job. Sometimes a photoshoot is just a photoshoot. Sometimes it’s only the beginning of the story.
