Emilie came to London to study politics. Tommy is American, a serviceman, and was here studying too. They ended up in the same class.
The way Emilie tells it, their professor asked the room a question one day and Tommy's answer was good enough that she noticed him. He'd already noticed her. Their first date was over Taiwanese beef noodles.
A year later, graduation was coming up and Tommy was due to leave for a posting in Korea. So before their time in London ran out, they got married at Oxford Town Hall, with the friends they'd made here, their classmates, and even the professor from that first class all in the room.
