Shirley was a colleague of a friend of mine. When my friend heard she hadn’t booked a photographer for her wedding, she passed my name along — and that became my first photography job in London, and the first wedding I ever shot.
I told Shirley straight that I had no wedding experience at all. She’d seen my other work, liked it, and decided to trust me with the day anyway.
The wedding was at Kew Gardens, which is not a bad venue to start a career in.
